Music & Dance

'To sing well and to dance well is to be educated'. Dance is used as a means of communication to express what is too deep, too fine for words. Students learn to choreograph and make formations; limb movements and co-ordinated steps are a part of their learning experience. The students are taken through various Indian and Western dance forms like Indian Classical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Salsa and these are some of the most eagerly awaited moments, of self expression, in the day.

The Department of Music and Dance is committed to excellence, innovation, learning in action, and entrepreneurship. Our mission is to bridge dance practice and scholarship and to foster interdisciplinary inquiry. As a trained faculty, we bring a challenging range of perspectives to our teaching and research, and we continually re-examine our curriculum in order to prepare both young and mature aspirants for careers in an ever-evolving field.

Lessons in Indian and Western music generate rich cross cultural exposure and sensitize the students resourcefully to this fine art.

Sports

Athletics plays a major part in the Annual School Calendar of Duhan Public School. Over a long period of time Duhan Public School has a long list of State and National representatives and continues this success with our current athletes. Our coaches cover many diverse disciplines involved in athletics and training is given before and after the school. It is a policy to allow as many students as possible to participate and all assistance required during training is given by the school coaches.

Training for this is given during stay back after school where they are trained to play competitively and to get expertise of the coaches. Our staff also work closely with them.

Assemblies

The Morning Assembly adorned by the Special Presentations is an essential part of the school schedule. Each section has its own special day to conduct the assembly with the help of their Class Teacher in the course of the academic year. It helps in exposing each student to both Indian and other world cultures such as Diwali, Christmas, Mahavir Jayanti etc. The Assembly is an opportunity for displaying the inexhaustible talent of the children. It fosters the spirit of group activity, leadership and value building. It also acknowledges the efforts of the silent learners in the class who are equally participative in organizing the class assembly.
